A SEA of sunburnt saxophone lovers boogied barefoot in 30 degree heat to celebrate one of the Hunter's longest-running signature events, Jazz in the Vines.

Organisers said an estimated 8000 jazz lovers, mostly from Sydney, descended on Tyrells Winery to hear James Morrison, Renee Geyer, Glenn Shorrock and Lisa Hunt on Saturday.

Morrison had the crowd in awe over his trumpet and Shorrock sang his classics.

Geyer entertained with class early on in the day, but it was the closing act, soul singer Hunt, who really stole the show with her powerful voice as the sun moved behind the picturesque Brokenback Range.
